ENTER THE NZ MARINE CUP KIWI KAWAU CHALLENGE

NZ Marine invites you to come and enjoy a fun day’s racing on Auckland’s spectacular Hauraki Gulf and a starlit evening barbeque beside the historic, beautiful Mansion House on Kawau Island.

The event opens with an evening welcome function and race briefing in the Viaduct Harbour. The following day there’s a one–day race to Kawau Island and the evening’s function on the island.

Open to all sailing and motor yachts over 25 metres.

NZ Marine Cup will be contested by sailing yachts only, with a separate division for motor yachts.

TIMETABLE OF EVENTS

Wednesday 3 March	(Preliminary information: posted January 2010)
6 - 8pm	Registration, welcome cocktail party & Captain’s briefing
Thursday 4 March	(Preliminary information: posted January 2010)
9am	Fleet briefing at the Quay – start times, weather briefing & amendments to sailing instructions distributed
11am	Kiwi Kawau Challenge start for first yacht off Devonport Wharf, Waitemata Harbour
3 - 4pm	Estimated finish time
5pm	The NZ Marine Cup – Kiwi Kawau Challenge party commences
5:30pm	Prize Giving
6 - 11pm	Al fresco BBQ buffet and refreshments, music & dancing; under the marquee at Mansion House Bay

SAILING INSTRUCTIONS

Official event sailing instructions will be distributed at registration. Provisional sailing instructions, course descriptions and diagrams will be available on the NZ Marine website on or before 28 February 2010.

NOTES

There is plenty of safe mooring, at anchor, in Mansion House Bay and Bon Accord Harbour and the jetty in front of Mansion House provides easy tender access to come ashore.
The sponsor vessel transporting sponsors and sponsor guests will depart the Viaduct Harbour at 9am on race day and depart Kawau Island at 11pm for Auckland’s Viaduct Harbour.
Alternative transport to the island is available from Sandspit via Reubens water taxi service and there is alsoaccommodation on Kawau Island available if you wish to stay. Bookings are essential.

Event Fee: $3000 NZD + GST ( 1 x vessel and 6 Guests/Crew) Additional function tickets are available.
