Fitzroy Yachts Race 3  and Southern Spars Race 4 - Captains' Briefing

Hal Wagstaff, RNZYS race officer for the NZ Millennium Cup Pacific Series, has advised that the competitors will sail the triangular course off Takapuna Beach on Wednesday 11 February.

The first race - Fitzroy Yachts race three - will start at 11:30am and the course is expected to be sailed in an anticlockwise direction, heading towards Rakino Island first, north-west towards Whangaparaoa and back to Takapuna. The course will be sailed twice-round, and will take approximately 100 minutes.

As soon as the last boat has completed the first race, the second race - Southern Spars race four - will start five (5) minutes later.

At the conclusion of these two races, the Millennium Cup Pacific Series regatta will be complete and the winner known. An official prizegiving takes place at 6pm on Wednesday evening.

Race 2 update:

"Race officials have delayed the start of Robinson Marine Interiors race two until 1:00pm, from the scheduled 11:30am start. The course remains the inner harbour race with the first yacht, SY Naos, now starting at 1:00pm and the remaining competitors at their allocated times after Naos."
 

Robinson Marine Interiors Race 2 - Captains' Briefing

Hal Wagstaff, RNZYS race officer for the NZ Millennium Cup Pacific Series, has advised that the competitors will sail the inner harbour race course starting off Princes Wharf on Tuesday 10 February at 11:30am.

However the use of this race course is subject to an early morning weather forecast and the captains of the competing superyachts will meet with officials at 9am on Tuesday to confirm whether the inner harbour race course will be used, or whether racing may move to the triangular course off Takapuna Beach.

The race will be called Robinson Marine Interiors race two and will see the yachts sail east along the waterfront towards Orakei with a short leg out towards Moutihe Island, around a mark, then back towards the Harbour Bridge, turn at another mark, then complete another lap before crossing the finish out in front of Princes Wharf.

Alloy Yachts Race 1 - Captains Briefing

Hal Wagstaff, RNZYS race officer for the Millennium Cup Pacific Series, has advised that the race course for Alloy Yachts race one will be the Gulf Island race. This will see the superyachts depart Auckland's Viaduct Harbour about 9:30am to motor out to the race start which will be 500-1000m out from Takapuna beach. From 11:30am, the yachts start in an order defined by race officials. They then race under sail north-east to pass through the ‘Tiri Passage', between the end of Whangaparaoa peninsular and Tiri Tiri Matangi Island, around Tiri, then over to round Rakino Island and back to the race start off Takapuna beach.
