Notice of Race
1.0 Rules
1.1 The regatta will be governed by the ‘rules' as defined in the Racing Rules of Sailing 2009-2012.
1.2 The event will be governed by the New Zealand Maritime Transport Act, Maritime Rules Part 22, Collision/Prevention.
1.3 Advertising material may be supplied to all competitors and shall be applied in a location stipulated by the Organising Authorities. Any advertising material (other than that supplied by the OA) displayed on competing yachts shall be declared on the entry form and approved in writing by the OA. The OA reserves the right to reject any entry from competing yachts carrying advertising material likely to conflict with the interests of sponsors. This changes RRS 76.1
2.0 Changes to Racing Rules
The Racing Rules will be changed in accordance with rule 86 as follows:
2.1 Rule 42.3 (h) will be changed to allow yachts to use their engines and thrusters up to the starting line for safety reasons. HOWEVER, EACH YACHT'S ENGINE MUST BE OUT OF GEAR AT THEIR PRESCRIBED START GUN. YACHTS MUST SAIL THE RACE UNDER SAIL POWER ALONE, except to avoid collision.
2.2 "Rule 51" Movable Ballast is changed so that boats shall be nominated with "non moveable ballast" or with "A Canting Keel" or "Water Ballast Tanks". A boat nominated with non moveable ballast and a boat with a lifting keel shall comply with Rule 51 as written in the Racing Rules of Sailing 2005 - 2008. Lifting Keels shall be locked in the down position and may not be moved whilst racing. Rule 51 is modified to allow boats with movable/variable ballast systems to compete. Boats must comply with ISAF Appendix K (www.sailing.org) and Yachting New Zealand Safety Regulations revised clauses 6.1 (K) and 6.2 (K) (www.yachtingnz.org.nz).
2.3 "Rule 52" Manual Power shall not apply.
3.0 Changes to Class Rules
Not applicable
4.0 Eligibility and Entry
4.1 The regatta is open to:
• all yachts over 100feet (31metres) L.O.A. This will be the Super Yacht Division;
• and yachts over 60feet (18metres) L.O.A. This will be the Pacific Division.
4.2 Entries will be accepted up until the closing date of Friday 6th February, by completing the attached entry form accompanied by a fee of:
• 5000 EUR for yachts entering in the Super Yacht Division and;
• 3000 EUR for yachts entering in the Pacific Division.
Entry fees are to be mailed with the entry form to the address detailed on the entry form.
4.3 All yachts competing in the regatta shall have a current Endorsed IRC Certificate. The boats original current Endorsed IRC Certificate shall be supplied with the Entry Form. This will be copied and returned by the Organising Authority.
4.3 Late entries, may be accepted at the Race Committee's discretion until 5:00pm Sunday 8th February
5.0 Schedule of Events
5.1 Registration:
5:00pm Sunday 8th February RNZYS Commodores Room
5.2 Briefing:
9:00am Monday 9th February Viaduct Event Centre
5.3 Racing Schedule:
The scheduled time of the warning signal for racing each day is 1055hours.
The racing days are:
Monday 9th February
Tuesday 10th February
Wednesday 11 February
A total of 4 races are scheduled and no lay days are scheduled.
6.0 Sailing Instructions
The Sailing Instructions will be available at the Race Briefing on Sunday 8th February.
7.0 Racing Area
The races will be held on the Hauraki Gulf.
8.0 Courses to be Sailed
The course(s) will be a combination of short and long courses around the inner islands of the Hauraki Gulf.
9.0 Scoring
9.1 The Low Points scoring system of RRS Appendix A will apply.
11.0 Decisions of the Jury
Not applicable
12.0 Prizes
Only yachts competing in the Super Yacht Division will be eligible for The Millennium Cup.
An inscribed RNZYS Plaque will also be awarded to the winners of the Super Yacht Division and the Pacific Division.
13.0 Team Support Boats
13.1 Team support boats will be allowed.
13.2 Support boats shall be marked with the Yachts sail number on a white flag approx 400mm X 400mm.
13.3 Support boats must be registered with the Organising Authority at registration (clause 5.1 above).
14.0 DISCLAIMER
All those taking part in the MILLENNIUM CUP Pacific Series 2009 do so at their own risk and responsibility. The Organising Authority or any other sponsors associated with the MILLENNIUM CUP Pacific Series 2009 shall have no liability for any damage, loss or any penalty suffered by any boat crew or any other person taking part in the MILLENNIUM CUP Pacific Series 2009. The Organising Authority shall not be, responsible for the sea-worthiness of a boat whose entry is accepted and/or the sufficiency and/or adequacy of its equipment or the competence of its skipper or crew. The Organising Authority reserves the right in their sole and uncontrolled discretion to refuse any entry.
